COVID-19 Back-Up Event Plan

Dear all Slacker Run Participants and Sponsors,

As COVID-19 is still unpredictable at this time and even some events still being held virtual, we have installed a COVID-19 back up plan in case of future spikes or new regulations and our Slacker Run could not be held in person. Last year, the Oakmont Slacker Run made the safe decision to turn the event into a virtual run that participants could do from home but still post of their progress. We would like to thank everyone that participated in the virtual run and still donated to The Child Advocacy Center located right here in Gainesville, FL. The Slacker Run committee has decided to have a Slacker Run Drive-Through this year in the event our run could not be held in person.

On the day of the scheduled race, you can drive to Oakmont and pick up your Slacker Run Kit safely from the seat of your car. The kit includes the following:

  • Coupon for 2 free beers from a local pub
  • Coupon for a free donut from a local donut shop
  • Slacker Run T-shirt
  • Slacker Run Car Sticker
  • Raffle Prize Ticket and instructions
  • Directions on doing the race virtually
  • Race Bib
  • Bag of goodies from builders

While onsite, don't forget to grab your FREE Kona Ice and snap a picture with your favorite character. We heard Elsa was going to be there! Be sure to dress up and smile for the picture contest, too!

Remember, this is a back up plan only to ensure everyone's safety in the event of new or added guidelines. Thank you again for participating and support a great charity helping kids living right here in Gainesville!

Sincerly,

The Slacker Run Committee

Kid's Zone

Child Advocacy Center

All proceeds will be directly donated to the Child Advocacy Center located right here in Gainesville.

The Child Advocacy Center, Inc. (CAC) provides a child friendly facility for children and their families during child abuse investigations. By using a compassionate and collaborative approach, the CAC helps to facilitate healing and safety by giving children a safe place to talk about what happened to them, a multidisciplinary team of professionals to investigate their case, and advocates and therapists to help them with critical life-saving services for their family. The CAC provides ongoing advocacy and therapy services for children as long as they need at no charge to the families. Consultation and training about child abuse identification and prevention is also available for the community. In 2019, the CAC served 3,861 people affected by child abuse, including 1,799 child victims. Of these children served, 37 were victims of human trafficking and 10 were victims of child pornography. The mission of the CAC is to break the cycle of child abuse in Alachua County and you are helping fulfill that mission by being part of Oakmont's .4k Slacker Run!
