The Slacker Run committee has made the difficult decision to change this year’s Slacker Run to a virtual event. We want to thank all of our vendors, guests, and residents for your patience during this journey as we have had to make several adjustments due to the constantly evolving coronavirus situation. We know how frustrating that may have been for many of you.
However, as we have stated in the past, your safety has always been our #1 priority in guiding us through our decisions.
We hope you will enjoy the Virtual Slacker Run and we plan to keep this fun and exciting for our guests in spite of the change to a virtual format.
First, everyone who registered for the race through www.oakmontrun4cac.com will still receive the Slacker Run sticker in the mail. Second, you will also receive a coupon code for $5 off next year’s race, which will be held at Oakmont in April of 2021.
To keep the fun going (or in case you decide to slack off and not run on August 22nd) this event will now last for a whole week! You can participate at home any time between August 22nd and August 29th.
We’re also introducing a fun video contest! The week of the race, you can create a funny video of your at home Slacker Run participation and share it on the Facebook event page for a chance to WIN. Remember, the Child Advocacy Center is a children’s charity, so please keep your videos family friendly! Have fun and get creative! The Slacker Run Committee will choose 3 lucky winners to receive a $50 Visa Gift Card.
Here is the link to submit your videos. Just click “Add a Post” and upload your video directly to the event, or share a link to the video from a site like YouTube or Tik Tok. https://www.facebook.com/events/195973104922342/?active_tab=discussion
That being said, if you choose not to participate in the virtual event, we hope you will consider donating your registration fee to the Child Advocacy Center, as they continue to do good and important work in our community during this trying time. If you would like us to issue a refund, please contact Oakmont Lifestyle Coordinator, Kaytlan Forret, directly at email@example.com.
Please stay safe, wash your hands, wear a mask, and take care of yourself and those you love.
Thank you – The Slacker Run Committee

The Child Advocacy Center, Inc. (CAC) provides a child friendly facility for children and their families during child abuse investigations. By using a compassionate and collaborative approach, the CAC helps to facilitate healing and safety by giving children a safe place to talk about what happened to them, a multidisciplinary team of professionals to investigate their case, and advocates and therapists to help them with critical life-saving services for their family. The CAC provides ongoing advocacy and therapy services for children as long as they need at no charge to the families. Consultation and training about child abuse identification and prevention is also available for the community. In 2019, the CAC served 3,861 people affected by child abuse, including 1,799 child victims. Of these children served, 37 were victims of human trafficking and 10 were victims of child pornography. The mission of the CAC is to break the cycle of child abuse in Alachua County and you are helping fulfill that mission by being part of Oakmont's .4k Slacker Run!
